Today, we’re unboxing the Tomix 98427 Tobu 500 Series “Liberty” — I don’t know what makes this thing “Liberty”, but I feel strangely obligated to salute it as it rolls by.
🚆 About the Real Train:
Introduced in 2017, the Tobu 500 Series “Liberty” consists of 11 three-car trainsets designed for flexible operations. Unlike the older 100 Series “Spacia”, Liberty trains are built for splitting and coupling, allowing them to operate as 3-car units or connected into a 6-car configuration with a pass-through front for passenger movement.
You’ll see these trains across multiple services, including:
Liberty Kegon / Liberty Kinu (Nikko Line)
Liberty Aizu (Yagan Railway / Aizu Railway)
Liberty Ryomo (Isesaki Line)
Urban Park Liner (Noda Line)
Even in overnight operations like the “Oze Night Train”
