Opening a Tomix JR Class C58 (239) – 2009
Model Railway Unboxings – Japanese N Gauge
Today we take our first look at a Tomix steam locomotive. This model is the brand new tooled C58 that represents the lone mainline operating version. It was released in December 2023 and is designed to operate with another recent release from Tomix, the KiHa 141 series, to form the SL Ginga Joyful train. The locomotive today is owned by JR-East, and although they do not run the SL Ginga anymore, it still is preserved operational.
This model is produced under Tomix’s High Grade selection. So in this video we unbox the model, take a close look and give it a run, firstly on its own then with the KiHa 141 carriages that will be featured in our next unboxing video.
